In order to ride a powersports vehicle safely, you need to make sure that you’ve got the right gear. And that doesn’t just mean a helmet and some clothes that you’re happy to get muddy. You should also bring some things on your powersports vehicle while riding so that you have them if you need them.

The following accessories can make your rides easier and safer and help you to get more out of your powersports vehicle, whether you’re riding for fun or using your vehicle for work tasks.

Winch

Being able to pull objects or even other powersports vehicles out of a ditch or off the road is important, which is why you should equip your vehicle with a winch. A winch allows you to assist a friend whose vehicle has gotten mired in mud, in addition to letting you drag a fallen tree trunk out of your path. Make sure that your vehicle is capable of handling the winch you choose so that you don’t drain the battery unnecessarily.

Light Bar

Some powersports vehicles may already come with lights installed on them, but not all of them do. Also, the factory-installed lights may not be as bright as you’d like them to be. If you’re planning to ride around dawn or dusk on a regular basis, being able to see and be seen is important, so install a bright LED light bar on your powersports vehicle to help you with visibility.

GPS Unit

It’s easy to get lost in the wilderness, so why not prevent that from happening by getting a GPS unit that can help you navigate even when your phone isn’t getting a signal? A good GPS unit isn’t too expensive and you can use it to plan rides and locate amenities you might need. It’ll also save you from draining your phone battery looking for directions.

Tool Kit

You never know when something might go awry with your powersports vehicle and you don’t want to have to get it towed from the middle of a nature trail. Pack some tools in a tool kit that you can keep with you so you can address minor issues and get back to riding. Some items you may want to include are duct tape, wrenches, screwdrivers, an air pump, zip ties, and vice grips.
